Using a Bug Detector

Why would someone bug you? Well, unfortunately there are many reasons that a bug may be placed in your premises. Certain government agencies can legally bug your home if there is evidence that you are engaged in illegal or terroristic activities. Protect yourself with a bug detector.

Another reason that you can be bugged is if you are in the middle of a lawsuit, divorce or other legal wrangling issue and the other side of the case has resorted to means to get the goods on you. We tend to speak freely in our own homes and that is exactly what the person that has installed a bug in your home is hoping for.

The third reason is more ominous but still occurs. A neighbor or close acquaintance has become obsessed with you and wants to immerse themselves so deeply into your life that they have chosen to bug you and listen to your conversations and overall life in progress.

Imagine what someone that installed a bug in your home will learn from your private phone calls, your casual conversations and even those rare occasions when you talk to yourself! A bug will hear it all.

So what do you do? You find that little critter of course and the way to do it is with a bug detector. There are two main types of bug detectors and many people have both types just in case.

A strength bug detector basically works by looking for signal, any signal around your home based on the strength of the transmission. Most bugs work in the 1 Mhz to 3 Ghz range so they can be located easily using a bug detector. The other type of bug detector works by seeking frequencies that are being transmitted in your home.

Both bug detectors will show you the direction and area of the bug in your home and remember a bug can be hidden in the plastic housing a telephone, under a table, in a drawer and they are usually very small and there have even been instances of bugs being placed in small holes drilled in wooden legs of tables, chairs and other furnishings in the room.

No matter who it is, you don’t want anyone messing around in your personal life. If you think you’re being bugged or you simply want to make sure you’re not, check out your home and office with a bug detector - the results of your quest can be enlightening to say the least.
